Elegant Birthday

Hello dear friends,

I’m so excited about the card I’m sharing with you — but the picture truly doesn’t do it justice.  It is very cool in real life because there is a lot of dimension and the colors compliment each other.  The inspiration for the card came from sketch #TGIFC43.

TGIF FEB Challenges-005

The card started out as two mess-ups.  I did the inner piece with the stamped flowers and didn’t like it.  Next, I decided to replicate the card on a bigger piece of white and see if I’d like it better.  However, I didn’t like it either.

Then I put the two together — and BINGO!  I had inadvertently created a Double Layer Card.  Together, they looked really neat.

Once I had the two layers together, I added more pieces, such as the lace, banner, etc.  I glitzed it up by covering the bird in glitter.

The moral of the story — great things can come from “mess ups.”  Never never never get down on yourself for trying.  Just keep going and you never know, your “mess up” may become your favorite creation.

  1. I always say there is no such thing as a mistake with cards! What a lucky error! It’s amazing what we can come up with when things don’t work as planned! Love it!

  2. Don’t you love when mistakes kinda just happen? Cute card! And the color combo works too! Thanks for joining us at TGIF Challenges this week:)

  3. I am totally drawn to this card. I am not qquite sure why but I think it’s the playfulness of the background stamping!! Darling! Thanks for playing at TGIF!
