Adding Personality to Cards

Dear Friends,

One of the cool things about card making is that we can design cards in different styles. Sometimes we want a strikingly beautiful card or a card that makes us laugh. When I’m in an artistic mood I like to make modern looking cards or a funky card fold.  Other times, however, I want a card with some personality. The card below definitely has some personality!

When I first designed it, I didn’t have the dog peeking out the window, so the card was pretty, but had no personality.   I thought — this card needs something extra to give it “oomph.” (Which usually equates to glitter in my book, but not today :)) Then I remembered the little dog in the Beautiful Ride stamp by Stampin’ Up!  Ohhhhhh, that sweet dog.  I carefully rolled up the window shade and put the dog in there, peeking out.  And with that one addition, my card now had a story.

“Missing You” is the perfect sentiment, isn’t it? The dog is waiting in excitement for someone to come home.

The siding on the card is made with strips of Very Vanilla card stock, cut into 1/2 stripes.  I cut the strips a little larger then the card, then trimmed them when done so that strips would all be the exact right width.

Have  fun with this!!!!  Hope you have some time to stamp this weekend.
