Watercolor Washing – Card #1

If you are into stamping, I know you’ve seen the Watercolor Washing effect. It’s HOT right now. Lots of trendy cardmakers are using this technique, and I can see why.  It is incredibly beautiful. There’s something so perfect about it’s imperfect look. It’s grungy, yet pretty.

Below is one of my first cards that I made using this technique.  On Friday I’ll be posting a video on this technique.  The video discuss all aspects of the technique and is almost like taking a class. I know you’ll love it, so be sure to check back.

I posted the video this past Sunday for my Creative Challenge (to learn more about my monthly challenge, click here) and they are so excited and thrilled to try it.  Love those women 🙂

To make the card, I first adhered Shimmer White card stock to a clip board with washi tape. Doing this prevents the paper from warping as it dries. I then brushed water all over it. Using an aqua painter with Crumb Cake and Blushing bride ink, I randomly brushed color over the cardstock. I added drops of water (you can see them under the car) for added interest. And to be honest, just to play and see how it would look 🙂

The car is embossed on Shimmer White, too. (I am loving Shimmer White for watercoloring. It takes the ink and water very nicely.) I then fussy cut it out, added some silver thread, and put the car over top of the design with dimensionals.

I’ll be showing you more examples using this technique.  It is SOOOOOO much fun.  I hope you’ll give it a try.
