Adding Washi Tape to Projects

Before I share my latest card from the Moroccan Nights stamp set, I have a question for you. If you have a spare minute, I would love if you would leave a comment or send me an email (rinastamps@gmail.com) and let me know about your summer stamping plans!  Do you have MORE time to stamp in the summer? Or do you have less time because you are busy with vacations and kids/grandkids? I’m very curious so let me know!

The reason why I’m asking is that because I am very inspired to stamp with the sets from the new catalog and I’ve been stampin’ up a storm, but time seems shorter than it did a few months ago. Is it just me, or is it that way for you, too? I can’t believe June is over — it went in a flash.

Moroccan Nights Stamp Set Using Washi Tape

My card today uses the stamp set, Moroccan Nights. I used an accessory in the card that I haven’t used in (I’m embarrassed to say) months….washi tape. I stopped using washi tape a while back because I noticed that while I was collecting lots of it, it never actually made its way into a card. I’m not sure why, since I love it.

When I saw the gorgeous Moroccan Washi tape in the catalog, I resolved to buy my favorite set and use it as much as possible.

The tape made this card come together so quickly. I find cutting small strips of paper evenly to be a challenge. The washi tape looks like thin strips of paper, but it’s not! I didn’t need to cut a thing! (Note that the washi tape is on the sides of the card. The red on the left, and the two strips of dark brown on either side of the lanterns.

Another fun part of this card is the bronze thread. I coudn’t have the lanterns hanging in mid-air, I needed something for them to hang on. The bronze thread came to the rescue! There are large pearls on either side of the thread to help hold it onto the card.

The card is splattered with gold Wink of Stella. It looks really neat in real life with the gold sparkles.

I have LESS time to stamp in the summer because my three daughters are out of school. They are teens and I love having them around, so I like to spend the time off from school with them – we shop, ride bikes, play board games, hit a volleyball around, etc. Then there is the driving – to friends’ homes, their volunteer jobs, youth group block parties, etc. When school starts again, I am excited to stamp more and fresh from the break.

This new catalog is gorgeous!!!! I love so much in it! I discovered your blog a few weeks ago and just have to say you do beautiful work and your videos are great. You are so clear and not rushed about explaining things and I can tell you love stamping.

First, Nicole, thank you so much for your sweet comments. I appreciate them so much — the videos take a lot of time to prepare and record and I thank you so much for your sweet words! Are you in my creative challenge? If not, I think you would LOVE it. My newest video for the challenge is coming out tomorrow. After I post my video, we have a facebook group where members post pictures of the cards they made using the technique in the video. You sound very busy, but I’m so happy its with GOOD things. The time you spend with your teens is precious. You are doing something right — since they WANT to spend time with you. Do you they like stamping? My kids are much younger, but they love it.

Thanks again for your kind words. XOXO

LOL. I totally hear you!!! It’s always hard to squeeze in the time — but please be sure to find some time for yourself, Kim. It gives us so much great energy when we stamp and create something beautiful, doesn’t it?
