Having a blast with Seaside Shore

I wasn’t exaggerating when I told you this annual catalog is the BEST I’ve ever seen in all the years I’ve been shopping with Stampin’ Up! One of my favorite stamp sets is Seaside Shore. I’m drawn to this stamp set not just because of the neat looking fish, but also because of the stamps that accompany it.

To make a card amazing (while doing as little work as possible…), it’s helpful to have items that compliment the main image. This can be in the form of paper, accessories, buttons, etc. However, matching stamps may be the best and easiest way to compliment your focal image.

In the card below, the fish are nice, but without the little bubbles in the circle, it wouldn’t have packed as big a punch.

Also, the anchor (also from the stamp set, Seaside Shore) adds dimension and interest to the card.

Another accessory I used was the Seaside embossing folder. It was designed to compliment this stamp set and it adds a ton of subtle beauty to the card.

The product suite also has matching designer series paper called “By the Shore” but I’m hoarding saving it for another project. The colors and designs on this paper are stunning. It has a lot of Calypso Coral, which is one of my favorite colors.

To make this card, I used the Tic Tac Toe board from the Paper Craft Crew challenge (Click PCCC#202 to play along!). Can you tell which row I used?????

The Tic Tac Toe lets you be flexible, but also forces you to add different elements to your card, which you may not have thought of on your own. I used the first line, Buttons, Linen Thread, and a Die Cut. Being “forced” to use the linen thread helped add interest to the card, and went along with the theme.

Tips for making the card:

  • Start with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4 ¼ x 5 ½. Fold in half.
  • Cut a piece of Soft Sky cardstock measuring 4 x 5 ¼
  • I chose the second largest circle in the new Layering Circles Framelits collection. Choose whichever size you like, then cut a circle on the top right of Soft Sky Cardstock using the Big Shot.
  • Using the Seaside embossing folder, emboss the Soft Sky card stock.

The “trickiest” part of the card is lining everything up. Here’s how I did it:

  • Place the Soft Sky cardstock over the Whisper White. Trace around the circle lightly in pencil.
  • Remove the Soft Sky cardstock. Stamp the fish and water droplets. It’s okay if some of the stamped images go beyond the circle. They’ll be covered up.
  • Put glue on the water droplets and sprinkle with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.
  • Using a good quality eraser, erase the pencil marks.

To put the card together:

  • Use Dimensionals to put the Soft Sky over the Whisper White.
  • Stamp the anchor and cut it out. Place on the Soft Sky card stock with Dimensionals.
  • Add a button and some sequins from the Metallic Sequins collections.
