Filling with the Jar of Love with Fairy Dust

Oh do I have a fun card for you today. I think Stampin’ Up! hit the nail on the head when it came out with the Jar of Love stamp set and matching framelits. It is just the neatest stamp set ever! As I was planning my card for today, I thought “what could put in that jar that’s a little bit different?” And I thought “Fairy Dust!” I combined the Jar of Love and Fairy Celebration stamp sets to make this card.

All our Hobbies Inspire our Artwork

You may be wondering. How on earth did you come up with that? Yeah. That thought occurred to me, too. Here’s how I came up with it. I’ve recently started reading a new genre for me – fantasy. I read one great fantasy novel, about princesses and magical kingdoms, and now I’m hooked. Magic and fairies are in the books I read, so they come through in my artwork.

What hobbies do you have? Have you combined them to make your card making even more special? If yes, tell me about it! I have a friend who is really into motorcycles, so the new One Wild Ride stamp featuring motorcycles really appealed to her. She could combine her two passions.

Another one of my passions is vegetarian eating. The stamp set Fresh Fruit appeals to me. I know it’s because the beautiful fruit in the set remind me of my lifestyle.

No matter how different your hobbies are, it’s fun to relate them when paper crafting. Now I just need Stampin’ Up! to release a yoga stamp, and I’ll be all set. LOL.

Tips for using the Jar of Love framelits

When using the Jar of love framelits, there’s a a framelit to cut out the jar shape. However, there’s also another framelit for cutting out the center of the jar. This second framelit was key in my design because

  • It let me play with stamping different things to put in the jar and I could easily switch out the center of the jar if I didn’t like the result
  • I was able to sponge around it, giving the a sponged blue ethereal look to the inside of the jar
  • It allowed me to pop up the inside of the jar using TWO dimensionals layered on top of each other, making it a bit higher then the actual jar so it would stand up more.

The sweet Fairy came from the Fairy Celebration stamp set. The sparkles (AKA fairy dust) also comes from the Fairy Celebration stamp set.

The fairy dust is done in embossed gold, but the beautiful gold color didn’t come through in my picture. In real life it’s really neat looking.
