Happy Sale-A-bration!

Before I begin my post, I’m putting the links to the new catalogs, released today, right up top so you can see them right away!

Today is an exciting day since two new catalogs are being released: The Occasions Catalog contains brand new beautiful seasonal items. It’s fun to see new products throughout the year and not have to wait for the annual catalog in June. My favorite is the Succulent Garden suite. I’ve already ordered it and have started playing!

The other catalog is for Sale-A-bration. Do you know what Sale-A-Bration means? I’ll give you a hint: It’s a little bit about celebrating the return to normal life after the holidays. Usually, this can be a sad time for some of us. But Stampin’ Up! wants to turn this time around to make it something to celebrate. And they know that the best way to make us stampers happy is to give us free stamping supplies.

Happy Sale-A-bration!

I don’t know about you, but in my world, that’s more exciting than cleaning the bathrooms, making dinner, or even doing laundry! Shocking, right? It takes my humdrum world and fills it with excitement. That’s why I love our hobby. It actually uplifts me every time I head to my stamping space, but that’s another blog post! Free supplies are exciting! And Stampin’ Up never makes the supplies boring or something you’d see on the clearance rack of other people’s leftovers. No way! The company makes their free products as exciting as they possibly can, incorporating the latest stamping trends.

If you’re new to Sale-A-Bration, the way you earn free products is for every $50 you spend (before tax and shipping) on products, you get any product of your choice from the Sale-A-bration catalog here.

Succulent Garden

Whenever there’s a new catalog, we always have our favorites. I always gravitate to the flower stamp sets. They make me smile. The Succulent Garden stamp set is neat because you can also make cactus-type plants with it – succulents. Here’s my first card made with the stamp set. I wonder how many more cards I’ll make with it?! Many, I’m sure!

The Technique

To make the card, I first cut out the center oval. I then lightly traced around it in pencil onto the Whisper White card stock. This allowed me to create a wreath effect, with the flowers surrounding the sentiment. Thanks the pencil mark, I knew exactly where to stamp to surround the sentiment. Once I finished stamping, I used a good quality artist eraser to erase the pencil line. It’s a simple technique, and it has a cool effect, doesn’t it?

Do you notice something else on the card that’s new? If you look carefully, you’ll see a little paper clip. Adorable, no? This paper clip is also in the new Occasions catalog. It adds just enough interest to make the card a little special without it being over-the-top. I love it!

There are also little orange enamel dots throughout the card. Those dots add so much fun and texture to a card. I love them and need to use them more!

Finally, to put it all together, I splattered the card with ink. I LOVE this effect. It’s amazing how plain a card can look without the splatter. Afterwards, the flow is different and everything comes together. To do this effect, I used my Aqua Painter and Peekaboo Peach ink. I inked up the Aqua Painter with the ink and then hit it so the ink would splatter over the card. Fun!

If you have any questions about Sale-A-Bration, let me know! I’m here to help. I hope you enjoy perusing the two new catalogs. Have a happy Sale-A-Bration!

With love,
Rina
