Bye Bye, Pedal Pusher

I am going to miss the Pedal Pusher stamp set so much when it retires. Would you believe that I love it so much, it actually inspired me to get a bike?  Yep, last Sunday I went to the bike store and fell in love with a beautiful bike, the same beautiful blue color as Pool Party. Too bad it costs a little more than the bike stamp, otherwise it would be home with me now 🙁

For my card today, I thought it would fun to put together a scene with the bike. I used the Sheltering Tree stamp set with Pedal Pusher.  I love fall colors, so I made it a fall scene.

The road lines (under the bike) are made from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. I was excited when I saw it and realized it would work . . . since I always have Gorgeous Grunge out and ready to go, it jumped into my card, almost on its own.

I used a blender pen to color the bike so it would have a more subtle effect.

I’m here for you

Hello Dear Friends,

Happy Monday.  I hope it’s a fantastic week.

For my card today, I tried to keep it simple.  And I did!  I almost squeezed in some elements that would have changed the card, but I kept reminding myself “clean and simple.”  You see, I was following a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  Click FMS228 for more information.

The theme of Freshly Made Sketches is to do simple layouts that are beautiful and non-fussy.  I love the how this type of card looks, so I wanted to challenge myself this week. Since I wanted to use the Petal Pusher stamp set, I had to flip the sketch — I didn’t think I could make the bike work in the upper corner. But don’t forget — sketches can be flipped, no problem. Always use sketches as inspiration and make them work with the card. After all, we wouldn’t want the card to look ridiculous, with a bike floating in mid air …

For the banner at the bottom, I did something fun. Using a dimensional on each side of the banner, I curved it outward in the center.  A fun technique!

I hope you will give clean simple cards a try. There is great beauty in simplicity, isn’t there?

Pedal Pusher – First Card!

There are generally two kinds of craftyMojo438 shoppers – those who buy a little at a time on a regular basis, and those who save up their orders and make them BIG.  I’m the latter type of shopper.  I don’t place orders often, so when I do, they usually contain many things I’m running low on (envelopes, reinkers, paper) and a few fun things.

Guess what?  I just got a large order in.  And it included the new Pedal Pusher stamp set.  It is such a cute, whimsy stamp set and I was excited to get it inked up.

Never being satisfied with doing one thing at a time, I decided to use the new stamp set WITH a challenge.  I did the  Mojo Monday challenge (Mojo 438).

Initially, I felt this sketch didn’t lend itself easily to the stamp set I wanted to use, but I decided to just go with it 🙂  Why not, right?  It’s called a challenge for a reason.  In the end, I was happy with how it came together since I was able to flip the sketch and fit the cute little bike on the card.

Such an adorable bike, isn’t it?  And the sweet little birds — oh my!  I love it.  I also decided to use my favorite image from the Wildflower DSP.  (Share, don’t hoard, your favorite paper!  See, I’m learning to do this, too!!)

You can see in the close up below that I put some silver ribbon under the bow for a little extra sparkle.
